Borderline, 2015, 75 x 100 x 4 cm, Embroidery on cotton

In this composition, vividly embroidered lines intricately outline the underwater borders that divide ownership of space beneath the Mediterranean Sea. The artwork invites reflection on the agendas behind socially constructed land and offshore borders, shedding light on the strategic division of resources—particularly the oil and gas reserves off the coast of Lebanon. Moreover, it poses poignant questions about the responsibility for lives lost at sea during the perilous journeys made by migrants across these passageways as governing forces shy away from accountability.
